💡How to use #GeorgBrushes 🎨 Dual Color Mix Flow in Procreate 5+ (color tilt feature = "ct" brush name suffix)

Dual color mix brush strokes: Normal tilt angle = Blue/Main; Low tilt angle = Magenta/Secondary

Many of my new brushes use the amazing dual color mix features of Procreate 5+. With a little practice, you can speed up your coloring and shading workflow remarkably. You recognize these brushes by the "color tilt" (or short “ct”) suffix in their names.

1) Choose your main and secondary colors

If you like subtle color nuances, choose a similar or slightly darker/lighter color for your main color. Check my TRI-O-TONE color swatches Included in the MegaPack, they are great for harmonic highlights and shading.

You can also choose complementary colors or pick them with the new Procreate “Harmony” color menu.

2) Low tilt angle = secondary color flow

Painting with a low stylus tilt angle will let the secondary color flow into your brush strokes. Give your artwork a broad variety of beautiful color shading and paint smooth gradient washes.

Many of my newer “ct” brushes combine the dual color feature with wet/dry mix abilities and rich multi-textures. You’ll find some quick demo strokes for different Dual Color Tilt Brushes in the gallery below.

3) Single color mode: choose same color or deactivate

If you don't want to use the dual color tilt feature you can either:

  • Select the same color for main and secondary.

    or

  • Tap on the brush to open the Brush Studio. Choose "Color dynamics" and set the last slider to "None" (0). You can also adjust the tilt angle and/or degree of secondary color flow for this brush.

Additional Brush Color Dynamics

Some brushes come with additional color dynamics:

  • “color jitter” / “cj”: various degrees of random hue, saturation, darkness, and lightness jitter

  • “color pressure” / “cp”: secondary color flow is controlled by pressure

  • “dark” / “multiply” / “x”: blend mode/burnt edges is set to “multiply”

  • “light” / “screen” / “s”: blend mode/burnt edges is set to “screen”

Please check your Procreate Handbook for more info on colors and brush blending modes.
